To mark the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death, Daniele Gatti is conducting a symphonic cycle of the composer’s works, spanning two seasons.
The fourth and final instalment of our Beethoven Cycle for this season brings together the exceptional violinist Vilde Frang, making her debut with the OSR, and Daniele Gatti for an evening dedicated to German Romanticism.
Long overlooked before being rediscovered, Schumann’s Violin Concerto – the composer’s sole contribution to the genre – combines introspection with intensity. In the second half, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, famously described by Wagner as ‘the apotheosis of dance’, carries us along with its rhythmic energy and jubilant vitality.

À l’occasion du 200e anniversaire de la mort de Ludwig van Beethoven, Daniele Gatti dirige un cycle symphonique du compositeur, sur deux saisons.
Le quatrième et dernier volet de notre Cycle Beethoven pour cette saison, réunit l’exceptionnelle violoniste Vilde Frang, pour la première fois à l’OSR, et Daniele Gatti pour une soirée sous le signe du romantisme allemand.
Longtemps resté dans l’ombre avant d’être redécouvert, le Concerto pour violon de Schumann, unique contribution du compositeur au genre, déploie une écriture à la fois introspective et ardente. En seconde partie, la Symphonie N° 7 de Beethoven, renommée par Wagner « l’apothéose de la danse », nous emporte dans une énergie rythmique et une vitalité jubilatoire.
