An artistic movement born in 1848 as a reaction to Victorian academic art, Pre-Raphaelitism was long written in the masculine. This exhibition reveals the central role of the women artists who shaped it, through painting, photography and textile arts, from its origins to 1914.
The exhibition benefits from the exceptional support of the Musée d'Orsay, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the Archives Signac.

Mouvement artistique né en 1848 en réaction à l'art académique victorien, le préraphaélisme s'est longtemps écrit au masculin. Cette exposition révèle le rôle central des femmes artistes qui l'ont façonné, à travers la peinture, la photographie et les arts textiles, de ses origines à 1914.
L’exposition bénéficie du soutien exceptionnel du musée d’Orsay, de la Bibliothèque Nationale de France et des Archives Signac.

Een artistieke beweging geboren in 1848 als reactie op Victoriaanse academische kunst, Pre-Raphaelism werd lang geschreven naar mannelijk. Deze tentoonstelling laat de centrale rol zien van de vrouwelijke kunstenaars die het vormden, door middel van schilderkunst, fotografie en textielkunst, vanaf het begin tot 1914.
De tentoonstelling geniet de uitzonderlijke steun van het Musée d'Orsay, de Bibliothèque nationale de France en het Signac Archief.
