In its exhibition, the MEG explores the history of its collections linked to the colonial era. How did Geneva traverse the colonial period? In what way is the Museum of Ethnography a major cultural actor in the colonial context? What do its collections reveal? These questions lie at the heart of the new temporary exhibition at the MEG, "Remembering. Geneva in the Colonial World " where the journey examines the role of the MEG in a post-colonial society where echoes of the past, discrimination, and racism resonate.
2024 marks the commemoration year of the 10th anniversary of the MEG's new building, and to celebrate this event, the exhibition "Remembering. Geneva in the Colonial World " is free of charge.

Dans son exposition, le MEG explore l’histoire de ses collections liée à l’ère coloniale. Comment Genève a-t-elle traversé l’époque coloniale ? En quoi le Musée d’ethnographie est-il un acteur culturel majeur du contexte colonial ? Qu’en racontent ses collections ? Ces interrogations sont au centre de la nouvelle exposition temporaire du MEG «Mémoires. Genève dans le monde colonial», dont le parcours questionne le rôle du MEG dans une société post-coloniale où les traces du passé, les discriminations et le racisme se font écho.
2024 marque l’année de commémoration des 10 ans du nouveau bâtiment du MEG et pour fêter cet événement, l’exposition «Mémoires. Genève dans le monde colonial» est gratuite.
