MEG is delighted to welcome Brìghde Chaimbeul, a pioneer of a new approach to the Scottish bagpipes through her contemporary practice firmly rooted in her Celtic heritage. This event inaugurates the MEG's MEGAFOLK series of musical units, which looks at the transformation of musical traditions in the light of issues specific to new music. Each concert is accompanied by a discussion of the context explored, in this case the bagpipes of Brìghde Chaimbeul, with Fin Moore, its maker, and Patrik V. Dasen, ethnomusicologist and professor at the Haute Ecole de Musique of Geneva, in association with the Archipel Festival, which is also interested in the paths of sound, the gestures that transform them and the traditions that host them. This evening serve as a preview to the 31st edition of the Festival (in collaboration with the Archipel Festival).

Le MEG se réjouit d’accueillir la venue exceptionnelle de Brìghde Chaimbeul, pionnière d’une nouvelle approche de la cornemuse écossaise par sa pratique contemporaine fortement ancrée dans son héritage celte. Cet événement inaugure la série d’unités musicales du MEG, MEGAFOLK, attentive aux transformations de traditions musicales à la lumière d’enjeux propres aux musiques de création. Chaque concert est accompagné d’une rencontre du contexte exploré, ici autour de la cornemuse de Brìghde Chaimbeul, avec Fin Moore, son luthier, et Patrik V. Dasen, ethnomusicologue et professeur à la Haute Ecole de Musique de Genève.
A cette occasion le MEG s’associe au Festival Archipel, également intéressé aux cheminements du sonore, aux gestes qui les transforment et aux traditions qui les accueillent. Cette soirée tient lieu d’avant-première à sa 31e édition.
