Everybody's Perfect
This tour explores and discusses the exhibition "Memories. Geneva in the colonial world" exhibition at the MEG. The idea is to reflect together on the role of the museum and the exhibition in relation to the colonial heritage: which stories are brought to the fore, which are forgotten, and how this affects our vision.
We will also look at the significance of certain exhibits, such as the totem poles, and the way in which the museum, with its unique architecture, influences our perception. Using decolonial, queer and feminist thinking tools, this tour will help us to ask new questions and imagine other possible narratives.
The tour will take place on Saturday 5 October at 2.30pm. It will start in the entrance hall, continue through various areas of the museum and then into the temporary exhibition, where most of the tour will take place.
It will be given by:
Nayansaku Mufwankolo, artist-researcher, teacher and lecturer in critical theory and cultural studies, consultantx on diversity and inclusion
and
Maria Ejarque, independent researcher and curator with a feminist, queer and decolonial approach.
In collaboration with the Everybody's Perfect festival and Service Agenda 21-Ville durable, in the contexte of the City of Geneva's Month of LGBTIQ+ History.

Cette visite propose d'explorer et de discuter l'exposition « Mémoires. Genève dans le monde colonial » au MEG. L'idée est de réfléchir ensemble sur le rôle du musée et de l'exposition face à l'héritage colonial : quels récits sont mis en avant, lesquels sont oubliés, et comment cela affecte notre vision.
On abordera aussi la signification de certains objets exposés, comme les mâts-totems, et la manière dont le musée, avec son architecture unique, influence notre perception. Grâce à des outils de réflexion décoloniaux, queers et féministes, cette visite permettra de poser de nouvelles questions et d'imaginer d'autres récits possibles.
La visite aura lieu le samedi 5 octobre à 14h30. Le rendez-vous est dans le hall d'entrée, se poursuivera dans différents espaces du musée puis continuera dans l'exposition temporaire, où aura lieu la majorité de la visite.
