MEG x CCA: Poetry reading with Nayansaku Mufkwankolo

The MEG is partnering with the Afropea Cultural Centre for a programme of events surrounding the temporary exhibition ‘Afrosonica – Soundscapes’.
Sounds that heal
As part of the MEG's new exhibition entitled ‘Afrosonica – Soundscapes’, the Afropea Cultural Centre invites their president Nayansaku Mufwankolo for a poetry reading on the theme of healing, an exploration of Egyptian Zâr and its de-synchronisations, as well as its current practice with Mahmoud Khattab, an Egyptian artist.The day's programme will also begin with an introduction to music through sacred songs performed by Maïlé Kalokura Medecine, shaman, astrologer, somatic educator, practitioner of sacred sounds and cacao, and guide/mentor in the healing arts.
Nayansaku Mufkwankolo – reading

Nayansaku Mufwankolo is a teacher of cultural studies and critical theory, a trainer and consultant in diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I), as well as a poet and researcher. Their research, conducted through poetry and installation, focuses on Afrocosmic autofiction—a concept that blends quantum physics and astrophysics into their narratives—and on how power structures are constructed and perpetuated through discourse.
This event is organised in collaboration with the Afropea Cultural Centre (Centre culturel Afropea) and the MEG – Geneva Museum of Ethnography.

Le MEG s’associe au Centre Culturel Afropea pour une programmation autour de l’exposition temporaire « Afrosonica – Paysages sonores ».
Des so(i)ns qui guérissent
Dans le cadre de la nouvelle exposition du MEG intitulée « Afrosonica – Paysages sonores », le Centre culturel Afropea invite their presidentxs Nayansaku Mufwankolo pour une lecture de poème autour de la question du soin, une plongée dans le Zâr égyptien et ses dé-synchronicités ainsi que sa pratique actuelle avec Mahmoud Khattab, artiste égyptien. La journée de programmation commence également par une initiation en musique au travers des chants sacrés proposés par Maïlé Kalokura Medecine, chamane astrologue et éducatrice somatique, praticienne des sons sacrés et du cacao, et guide/mentor dans les arts de la guérison.

Nayansaku Mufwankolo est enseignantx en études culturelles et en théorie critique, formateurx et consultantx en diversité, équité et inclusion (DE&I), ainsi qu'artiste poetx et chercheurx. Ses recherches, menées à travers la poésie et l'installation, se concentrent d'une part, sur l'autofiction afrocosmique - un concept mêlant physique quantique et astrophysique à ses récits - et d'autre part, sur la manière dont les structures de pouvoir sont construites et perpétuées à travers le discours.
