Exhibition of the three laureates of the 2019, 2020 and 2021 Geneva Photographic Survey, on the theme of mobility.

In 2016, the City of Geneva initiated a photographic survey. This important annual commission is awarded to a photographer active in the canton of Geneva, with a theme chosen for a period of three years. This initiative supports the constitution of a photographic heritage that is equally artistic and historical. The exhibition "Mobilités" presents three photographic surveys of Geneva, carried out by artists Zoé Aubry, Gabriela Löffel and Laurence Rasti between 2019 and 2021.
Their respective projects explore the ramifications of mobility in terms of its most direct impacts on bodies, those that move clandestinely and are sometimes hidden away, as well as those whose flesh is altered and whose image travels from screen to screen. Focusing on the movement of people and the control of migratory flows as well as surgical transformations of the body, these three photographic collections take a lucid, committed and critical look at the implications of migration policies and social injunctions on the appearance of bodies.
This exhibition is the result of a collaboration between the Centre d'iconographie de la Bibliothèque de Genève, which preserves this new heritage in its collections and commissioned the projects, and the Centre de la photographie Genève, which conceived and produced the exhibition in close collaboration with the artists.

En 2016, la Ville de Genève s’est dotée d’une enquête photographique. Cet important mandat est confié chaque année à un ou une photographe actif ou active sur le territoire cantonal, sous le prisme d’une thématique choisie pour une période de trois ans. Cette démarche permet la constitution d’un patrimoine photographique à la fois artistique et historique. L’exposition Mobilités met en valeur trois enquêtes photographiques genevoises, réalisées par les artistes Zoé Aubry, Gabriela Löffel et Laurence Rasti entre 2019 et 2021.
Leurs projets respectifs sondent les ramifications de la mobilité dans ses impacts les plus directs sur les corps, ceux qui circulent de manière clandestine et que l’on escamote parfois, comme ceux dont la chair est altérée et dont l’image voyage par écrans interposés. Portant sur la circulation des personnes et le contrôle des flux migratoires aussi bien que sur les transformations chirurgicales du corps, ces trois corpus photographiques posent un regard lucide, engagé et critique sur les implications des politiques migratoires comme sur celles des injonctions sociales sur l’apparence des corps.
Cette exposition est le fruit d’une collaboration entre le Centre d’iconographie de la Bibliothèque de Genève, qui conserve dans ses collections ce nouveau patrimoine dont il est commanditaire, et le Centre de la photographie Genève, qui en a imaginé et produit l’exposition en étroite collaboration avec les artistes.
