Eine alte Frau stirbt vor ihrem Fernseher an einem Herzinfarkt. Einige Minuten später findet sie sich... in Voltaires Salon wieder. Die Dame ist die Verwalterin der Bibliothek des berühmten Schriftstellers, die einst von der Zarin Katharina II. gekauft wurde und seit über zweihundert Jahren in St. Petersburg steht. Der Schriftsteller und seine Bibliothekarin beginnen gerade mit dem Tee... als aus einer Lichtspalte eine höllische Truppe auftaucht: Le Kain, der berühmte Schauspieler, bereitet mit Corneilles Großnichte und der Prinzessin Daschkova, einer Freundin Katharinas II, eine Tragödie von Voltaire vor.
Wenn man weiß, dass der Schatten von Christophe Paillard, einem auf Voltaire spezialisierten Philosophen, und von Paul Méfano, einem zeitgenössischen Musiker und Autor einer Oper mit dem Titel Micromégas, ebenfalls groß sein wird, fragt man sich, was sich schließlich im Salon von Voltaire abspielen wird...

An old woman dies of a heart attack in front of her television set. A few minutes later, she finds herself... in Voltaire's salon. This lady is none other than the curator of the famous writer's library, once bought by Empress Catherine II and housed in St Petersburg for over two hundred years. The writer and his librarian are just starting to have tea... when an infernal troupe appears out of a crack of light: Le Kain, the famous actor, preparing a tragedy by Voltaire with Corneille's grandniece and Princess Daschkova, a friend of Catherine II.
When you know that the shadow of Christophe Paillard, a philosopher specialising in Voltaire, and that of Paul Méfano, a contemporary musician and author of an opera entitled Micromégas, will also be looming large, you wonder what might finally be playing out in Voltaire's salon...

Une vieille dame meurt d’une crise cardiaque, devant son poste de télévision. Quelques minutes après, elle se retrouve… dans le salon de Voltaire. Or cette dame n’est autre que la conservatrice de la bibliothèque du célèbre écrivain, jadis rachetée par l’Impératrice Catherine II et installée depuis plus de deux cents ans à Saint-Pétersbourg. L’écrivain et sa bibliothécaire commencent à prendre le thé… lorsque survient, tout droit jaillie d’une trouée de lumière, une troupe infernale : c’est Le Kain, le célèbre acteur, qui prépare une tragédie de Voltaire avec la petite nièce de Corneille et la princesse Daschkova, amie de Catherine II.
Quand on sait que surgiront encore l’ombre de Christophe Paillard, philosophe spécialiste de Voltaire et celle de Paul Méfano, musicien contemporain auteur d’un opéra intitulé Micromégas, on se demande ce qui pourra bien se jouer, finalement, dans le salon de Voltaire…
