Unsere Bibliothek verfügt über einen alten Bestand von mehr als tausend Werken vor 1810, dem Datum der Gründung der Bibliographie von Frankreich.

Diese wertvollen Werke haben vier Ursprünge: drei Nonnen und eine Laiin. Sei es: - das Kloster der Heimsuchung der heiligen Maria. Viele Nonnen waren Gelehrte**,** die Latein (natürlich) aber auch Griechisch oder Hebräisch kannten. Sie interessierten sich auch für Literatur und Wissenschaft. - die 1145 von Wilhelm III. Talvas gegründete Zisterzienserabtei Perseigne. Sein Ruhm im 12. und 13. Jahrhundert war beträchtlich. Ein Teil seiner reich bestückten Bibliothek konnte nach dem Verkauf als nationales Gut erhalten werden. - die 1149 gegründete Zisterzienserabtei Tironneau (in der Gemeinde St. Aignan). Einige Werke sind überliefert. - den Bachelier-Fonds, benannt nach einem Gelehrten aus Alençon, der der Stadt Mamers seine persönliche Bibliothek schenkte.

These precious works have four origins: three religious and one lay. Either: - the monastery of the Visitation of Saint Mary. Many nuns were scholars who knew Latin (of course) but also Greek or Hebrew. They were also interested in literature and sciences. - The Cistercian abbey of Perseigne founded in 1145 by Guillaume III Talvas. His fame in the 12th and 13th centuries was considerable. A part of its richly stocked library was saved after its sale as a national property. - the Cistercian abbey of Tironneau (in the town of St Aignan), founded in 1149. Some works have come to us. - the Bachelier collection, named after a Alensus scholar who donated his personal library to the town of Mamers.

Una parte della sua biblioteca riccamente fornita ha potuto essere conservata dopo la sua vendita come bene nazionale. - l'abbazia cistercense di Tironneau (nel comune di St Aignan) fondata nel 1149. Alcune opere ci sono pervenute. - il fondo Bachelier**, dal** nome di un erudito alençonnais che donò la sua biblioteca personale alla città di Mamers.

Ces ouvrages précieux ont quatre origines : trois religieuses et une laïque. Soit :
- le monastère de la Visitation de Sainte Marie. Bien des religieuses étaient des lettrées connaissant le latin (bien sûr) mais aussi le grec ou l'hébreu. Elles s'intéressaient aussi à la littérature et aux sciences.
- l’abbaye cistercienne de Perseigne fondée en 1145 par Guillaume III Talvas. Sa renommée aux 12ème et 13ème siècles était considérable. Une partie de sa bibliothèque richement garnie a pu être sauvegardée après sa vente comme bien national.
- l’abbaye cisterciennne de Tironneau (sur la commune de St Aignan) fondée en 1149. Quelques ouvrages nous en sont parvenus.
- le fonds Bachelier, du nom d’un érudit alençonnais qui fit don de sa bibliothèque personnelle à la ville de Mamers.
