"Theatrical calling card," Introducing Living Smile Vidya bears witness to the life trajectory of a woman with extraordinary courage. Trans activist and actress Living Smile Vidya, aka Smiley, was born in India. Coming from a Dalit family - considered true outcasts - and trapped in a man's body within an ultra-patriarchal society, her gender identity earned her a genuine barrage of rejection. With all her strength, she held on and fought until she managed to change her reality as well as that of thousands of others affected. In her hometown, she would be the first trans woman to have her name and sex modified on her passport. In perfect complicity with the audience that she floods with her warmth, Smiley relates her experience, her insurrection, her scars and her pride without pathos.

L’activiste trans et actrice Living Smile Vidya, aka Smiley, est née en Inde. Issue d’une famille de Dalits - considérés comme de véritables parias - et piégée dans un corps d’homme au sein d’une société ultra patriarcale, son identité de genre lui vaut une véritable salve de rejet. De toutes ses forces, elle s’accroche et lutte jusqu’à parvenir à changer sa réalité ainsi que celle de milliers d’autres concerné.e.s. Dans sa ville natale, elle sera la 1ère femme trans à voir son nom et son sexe modifiés sur son passeport. En parfaite complicité avec le public qu’elle inonde de sa chaleur, Smiley relate sans pathos son expérience, son insurrection, ses cicatrices et sa fierté.
