El Amparo by Rober Calzadilla – Venezuela – 2016 – 1h39 – Drama/War – original version with French subtitles
In the 1980s, on the border between Colombia and Venezuela, only two of sixteen fishermen who set out in a canoe survived a massacre perpetrated by the Venezuelan army. The state accused the victims of being guerrilla fighters. Based on the historical reality of the 1988 massacre, which remains unpunished, Rober Calzadilla has created a political film against forgetting, a refusal to normalize violence.
