The conference will study the influence of Negro art on painting, sculpture and music with the advent of jazz. It will evoke the appearance of collectors (Apollinaire, Stein, Matisse, Vlaminck, Derain, Picasso) and specialized merchants (Paul Guillaume, Charles Ratton or Joseph Brummer), and show the evolution of the perception of blacks by society, In particular, in the first third of the 20th century, by highlighting the divergences between France and the United States.
