Connecting bodies
In the midst of the human debacle, "Champ" gives shape to a possible reconciliation with our environment. A proposal that leaves a feeling of accomplishment, intrinsic to the patient rhythm of its genesis.
Take the time of the living. Carefully observe the interweavings, the trees, the connections. From lichen, Marion Baeriswyl and D.C.P had drawn a previous show where bodies communicated in a symbiotic way. For "Champ", the choreographer and the musician resume their organic exploration, this time inspired by stromatolites, rocks created by conglomerates of bacteria that live in community and complementarity. If there is a question of the group in the show, it is to grasp its shifting contours, to express its stakes and to determine its limits. What makes a group? How can we form a group without hierarchy? What imprint does the group leave on the individual? Dance then asserts itself as a field of hypotheses that is also an optical field, the invisible becoming visible. Weaving a delicate network of interactions interspersed with minute variations, the show questions the ways of making the world and of making common.
Through a refined choreography and musical pieces that promote immersion, "Champ" shows the diffuse charm of a dance that is as close as possible to reality. An organic dance which, by its controlled slowness, is part of an active resistance to anthropocentrism.
