Durch die Kraft ihrer Arme haben Generationen von Arbeiterinnen und Arbeitern die industrielle Macht Frankreichs geformt. Lange Zeit arbeiteten Kinder an ihrer Seite. Häufig mussten die Fabriken auch mit Zuwanderern betrieben werden.
Alle haben gekämpft, um die französischen sozialen Normen weiterzuentwickeln und zu erfinden. Dank außergewöhnlicher Archive und bewegender Zeugnisse durchläuft dieses große Fresko eineinhalb Jahrhunderte Geschichte und ehrt jene Frauen und Männer, die allzu oft in den Erinnerungen fehlen.
Fast unsichtbar geworden, obwohl fast ein Viertel der Franzosen Arbeiter sind, sprechen sie heute in diesem gemeinsamen Film.

By the strength of their arms, generations of workers have shaped France’s industrial power. For a long time, children worked by their side. Often, it was also necessary to call on immigrants to keep the factories running.
All fought to evolve and invent French social norms. Thanks to exceptional archives and moving testimonies, this large fresco covers a century and a half of history and pays tribute to these women and men too often absent from memories.

Con la forza delle loro braccia, generazioni di operaie e operai hanno plasmato la potenza industriale della Francia. Per lungo tempo, i bambini hanno lavorato al loro fianco. Spesso è stato anche necessario ricorrere agli immigrati per far funzionare le fabbriche.
Tutti hanno lottato per far evolvere e inventare le norme sociali francesi. Grazie ad archivi eccezionali e a testimonianze sconvolgenti, questo grande affresco ripercorre un secolo e mezzo di storia e rende omaggio alle donne e agli uomini troppo spesso assenti dalle memorie.
Diventati quasi invisibili, mentre circa un quarto dei francesi sono operai, oggi prendono la parola in questo film collettivo.

Tous se sont battus pour faire évoluer et inventer les normes sociales françaises. Grâce à des archives exceptionnelles et à des témoignages bouleversants, cette grande fresque parcourt un siècle et demi d’histoire et rend hommage à ces femmes et à ces hommes trop souvent absents des mémoires.
Devenus presque invisibles, alors que près d’un quart des Français sont ouvriers, ils prennent aujourd’hui la parole dans ce film collectif.
