In the 1970s, Lake Geneva’s health had severely deteriorated. Phosphate pollutants from laundry detergents and agricultural fertilizers fueled massive algal blooms, choking the lake and suffocating other species. The RTS report “Lake Geneva, a Monitored Agony” sounded the alarm and reached a large portion of the lake basin’s population, playing a critical role in mobilizing civil society to clean up the lake.
Journalist Eric Burnand, the author of this landmark report, will share his personal account of the investigation and the making of this documentary.
