Seit über 50 Jahren unterstützt BMW die Fotografie in Frankreich. Nach 10 schönen Jahren wurde die BMW Residence 2021 durch das BMW ART MAKERS-Programm ersetzt. Dieses Programm spiegelt die neue Ausrichtung der BMW Group France wider, Künstler und Kuratoren zu begleiten und ihr Modell neu zu erfinden. Dieses Programm, das sich immer wieder dem aufstrebenden Schaffen, dem Experimentieren und dem Bild widmet, öffnet sich den bildenden Künsten und bietet einem Künstler-Kurator-Duo ein Stipendium sowie ein Forschungs- und Produktionsbudget an.
Anlässlich des 200-jährigen Jubiläums der Fotografie lädt das Programm BMW ART MAKERS die Kandidaten ein, dieses Erbe zu feiern und dabei zukunftsorientierte Projekte zu gestalten. Diese außergewöhnliche Ausgabe, die dem Pioniergeist von Niépce entspringt, ruft dazu auf, die Verbindungen zwischen Image, Innovation und Transformation zu erforschen, in einem Kontext, in dem sich Kreativität und Verantwortung vereinen.
Seit 1826 steht die Fotografie im Mittelpunkt des kulturellen und technologischen Wandels - eine Rolle, die BMW heute durch sein Engagement für eine intelligentere, menschlichere und nachhaltigere Mobilität teilt. Das Künstlerduo/der Kurator wird eingeladen, ein Projekt vorzuschlagen, das unsere Beziehung zu Bild, Bewegung und Fortschritt neu erfindet.
[Der Aufruf zur Einreichung von Bewerbungen für die Ausgabe 2027 wird in den Monaten November und Dezember 2026 eröffnet, die Termine werden im Laufe des Oktobers festgelegt. Der Preisträger wird im Januar 2027 bekannt gegeben.]
BMW ART MAKERS: eine finanzielle, materielle und menschliche Unterstützung, die umfasst
- Ein Stipendium von 10.000 € für den Künstler,
- Ein Stipendium von 8.000 € für den Kurator,
- Ein Budget von 15.000 € für die Forschung und Produktion der Werke,
- Die Produktion einer integrierten Ausstellung zu von BMW unterstützten Großveranstaltungen,
- Unterstützung in der Kommunikation.

As a patron of the arts for over 50 years, BMW has supported photography in France for over 20 years. After 10 wonderful years, the BMW Residence gave way to the BMW ART MAKERS program in 2021. This program reflects the new direction taken by BMW Group France to support artists and curators and reinvent its model. Always dedicated to emerging creation, experimentation and image, this program is open to the visual arts and offers a scholarship to an artist-curator duo, accompanied by a research and production budget.
On the occasion of the bicentenary of photography, the BMW ART MAKERS program invites candidates to celebrate this heritage while imagining future-oriented projects. Echoing the pioneering spirit of Niépce, this exceptional edition calls for exploring the links between image, innovation and transformation, in a context where creation and responsibility come together.
Since 1826, photography has been at the heart of cultural and technological change – a role that BMW shares today through its commitment to smarter, more humane and sustainable mobility. The artist/curator duo is thus invited to propose a project that reinvents our relationship with image, movement and progress.

BMW ART MAKERS: financial, material and human support that includes
A €10,000 grant for the artist,
A €8,000 scholarship for the curator,
A budget of €15,000 for the research and production of works,
The production of an exhibition integrated into major events such as Paris Photo and the Rencontres d'Arles,
Support in communication.
