Die Ausstellung Penn & Fashion wird einen Werdegang von Irving Penn (New Jersey 1917 - New York 2009) durch das Prisma der Mode vorstellen.
Irving Penn, einer der einflussreichsten Fotografen des 20. Jahrhunderts, hat die Regeln der Modefotografie revolutioniert und Generationen von Fotografen beeinflusst. Seine fast sechzigjährige Zusammenarbeit mit dem Magazin Vogue ermöglichte es ihm, ein einzigartiges Werk zu verfolgen, das den Konventionen trotzte und oft weit über die Mode selbst hinausging. Von seinen mythischen Bildern aus den 1950er Jahren bis zu seinen Farbwerken der 2000er Jahre ist sein Werk das Werk eines Autors, der seiner Zeit immer voraus ist.
Von Jean Patchett zu Christian Dior, Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn zu Balenciaga bis Marisa Berenson oder Lauren Hutton in skulpturalen Kleidern, bis hin zu den Kreationen von Yves Saint Laurent oder Issey Miyake, Jedes Bild ist das Ergebnis eines langen Denkprozesses, der zu zeitlosen Kompositionen führt, die in außergewöhnlichen Drucken umgesetzt werden.
Die Ausstellung dreht sich um die außergewöhnliche Sammlung von Nicola Erni sowie um die der MEP und profitiert von der Zusammenarbeit und umfangreichen Darlehen der Irving Penn Foundation und der Miyake Issey Foundation.

The exhibition Penn & Fashion will present a journey through the career of Irving Penn (New Jersey 1917 – New York 2009), through the prism of fashion.
Irving Penn, one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century, revolutionized fashion photography and influenced generations of photographers. His collaboration with Vogue magazine for nearly sixty years allowed him to pursue a unique work that, defying conventions, has often gone far beyond fashion itself. From his mythical images of the 1950s to his color works of the 2000s, his work is the work of an author always ahead of his time.
From Jean Patchett as Christian Dior, Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn as Balenciaga to Marisa Berenson or Lauren Hutton in sculptural dresses, up to the creations of Yves Saint Laurent or Issey Miyake, Each image is the result of a long process of reflection to achieve timeless compositions transposed into exceptional prints.
The exhibition is based on the exceptional collection of Nicola Erni as well as that of the MEP, and benefits from the collaboration and important loans of The Irving Penn Foundation and The Miyake Issey Foundation.

Irving Penn, uno dei fotografi più influenti del XX secolo, ha stravolto i codici della fotografia di moda e influenzato intere generazioni di fotografi. La sua collaborazione con la rivista Vogue, per quasi sessant'anni, gli ha permesso di perseguire un'opera unica che, sfidando le convenzioni, è stata spesso ben oltre la moda stessa. Dalle sue immagini mitiche degli anni '50 alle sue opere a colori del 2000, il suo lavoro è l'opera di un autore sempre avanti rispetto alla sua epoca.
Da Jean Patchett a Christian Dior, da Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn a Balenciaga a Marisa Berenson o Lauren Hutton in abiti scultorei, fino alle creazioni di Yves Saint Laurent o di Issey Miyake, ogni immagine è il risultato di un lungo processo di riflessione per arrivare a composizioni senza tempo trasformate in stampe d'eccezione.
La mostra è realizzata attorno alla collezione eccezionale di Nicola Erni e a quella della MEP, e beneficia della collaborazione e di importanti prestiti della Irving Penn Foundation e della Miyake Issey Foundation.

De ses images mythiques des années 1950 à ses travaux couleurs des années 2000, son travail est l’œuvre d’un auteur toujours en avance sur son époque.
De Jean Patchett en Christian Dior, Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn en Balenciaga à Marisa Berenson ou Lauren Hutton dans des robes sculpturales, jusqu‘aux créations d'Yves Saint Laurent ou d’Issey Miyake, chaque image est le résultat d’un long processus de réflexion pour aboutir à des compositions intemporelles transposées dans des tirages d’exception.
L’exposition est réalisée autour de la collection exceptionnelle de Nicola Erni ainsi que celle de la MEP, et bénéficie de la collaboration et de prêts importants de The Irving Penn Foundation et The Miyake Issey Foundation.
