The dreamy, vaporous pop of Magic & Naked — somewhere between Tame Impala and Allah-Las — is as enigmatic as it is captivating.
Formed in Geneva in 2013, the band quickly found success, leading them to tour across Switzerland and Europe. While their influences from the ’60s and ’70s are undeniable, the members of Magic & Naked both embrace and transcend them, making their music a matter of heart and sincerity rather than homage.
After four years of hibernation, they return to the stage filled with love and armed with new songs shrouded in mystery. According to them, expect ethereal or abrasive guitars, undulating or playful rhythms, a floating sensation, and a soft, idealistic warmth. To know more, there's only one way: come see them live.
Opening the evening is Zurich-based Palinstar, here to present her new album Backtrain Places and her beautifully jet-lagged universe.
Playing with rhythmic breaks and switching between acoustic and saturated guitars, this multi-instrumentalist crafts her songs with freedom and boldness, using music as a means of exploring and sharing her emotions. Her sensual, slightly raspy voice fits perfectly over melodies that oscillate between striking simplicity and intriguing complexity. With remarkable inventiveness, Palinstar manages to blend the brooding rock of PJ Harvey with the comforting folk of Feist.

La pop vaporeuse et lunaire de Magic & Naked, quelque part entre Tame Impala et les Allah-Las, se révèle aussi énigmatique qu’envoûtante. Créé en 2013, le groupe genevois a rencontré un succès immédiat qui l’a conduit à tourner tant en Suisse qu’en Europe. Si les influences des 60s et des 70s semblent évidentes, les membres de Magic & Naked assument et s’en défendent en même temps, faisant de leur musique une affaire de cœur et de sincérité et non d’héritage. Après quatre années d’hibernation, ils reviennent sur scène remplis d’amour et avec de nouveaux morceaux auréolés de mystère. À les en croire, il est question de guitares éthérées ou abrasives, de rythmes ondulants ou espiègles, de sensation de flottement et d’idéal moelleux. Pour en savoir davantage, il n’y aura pas d’autre choix que de venir les voir sur scène.
En ouverture, la Zurichoise Palinstar viendra présenter son nouvel album, Backtrain Places, et son univers joliment jetlagué. Jouant sur les cassures de rythme, alternant guitares sèches et saturées, l’artiste multi-instrumentiste développe ses chansons au gré de ses envies, avec liberté et audace, pour explorer ses émotions et les livrer à son auditoire. Sa voix sensuelle et légèrement cassée se plaque à merveille sur des mélodies qui oscillent entre simplicité fulgurante et complexité intrigante. Grâce à son inventivité, Palinstar réussit la prouesse de marier le rock lancinant de PJ Harvey et le folk réconfortant de Feist. À découvrir absolument.
