Saodat Ismailova develops a singular filmic work, which embraces history and myth in a single gesture. It crosses the great tradition of observation cinema to build a new language, which seeks to account for buried cultures and beliefs, made invisible by the clean slate of the twentieth century. “Saodat Ismailova. Double horizon” is the first exhibition dedicated to the Uzbek artist in France, bringing together around his major pieces a rich network of artistic conversations within Central Asia and beyond.

Saodat Ismailova développe une œuvre filmique singulière, qui embrasse d’un seul geste l’histoire et le mythe. Elle traverse la grande tradition du cinéma d’observation pour construire un nouveau langage, qui cherche à rendre compte de cultures et de croyances enfouies, rendues invisibles par la table rase du XXe siècle. « Saodat Ismailova. Double horizon » est la première exposition consacrée à l’artiste ouzbèke en France, réunissant autour de ses pièces majeures un riche réseau de conversations artistiques au sein de l’Asie Centrale et au-delà.

Saodat Ismailova ontwikkelt een enkelvoudig filmisch werk, dat geschiedenis en mythe in één gebaar omarmt. Het gaat over de grote traditie van observatiefilm om een nieuwe taal te bouwen, die probeert rekening te houden met begraven culturen en overtuigingen, onzichtbaar gemaakt door de schone lei van de twintigste eeuw. "Saodat Ismailova. Double horizon” is de eerste tentoonstelling gewijd aan de Oezbeekse kunstenaar in Frankrijk, die een rijk netwerk van artistieke gesprekken binnen Centraal-Azië en daarbuiten samenbrengt rond zijn grote stukken.
