"While the war is raging... "An exception, Ukrainian art" by Isabelle Lefebvre
As the war rages on in Ukraine, a duty of remembrance is required around its rich heritage. Starting with his rare Byzantine icons evacuated from Ukraine and recently exhibited at the Louvre in Paris. The artistic imprint of Ukrainian art, its traditions, its folklore resound even in the expression of modern artists at the heart of the twentieth century. Many were the artists who, born or having lived in Ukraine, came to join the collective reflections that characterized Parisian modernity. This conference will focus in particular on the valuable contributions of these artists: Archipenko, Chana Orloff (present in the collections of the Piscine), Sonia Terk who became Delaunay, Alexandra Exter, Maria Primatchenko.
Rates: €5 for the Friends of La Piscine / €8 normal rate / €3 students and job seekers
The lectures are given on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Daniel Motte auditorium at La Piscine (it is wise to arrive a little early).

"Alors que la guerre fait rage... « Une exception l'art ukrainien »" par Isabelle Lefebvre
Alors que la guerre fait rage en Ukraine, un devoir de mémoire s’impose autour de son riche patrimoine. A commencer par ses rares icônes byzantines évacuées d’Ukraine et récemment exposées au Louvre à Paris. L’empreinte artistique de l’art ukrainien, ses traditions, son folklore retentissent jusque dans l’expression des artistes modernes au coeur du XXème siècle. Nombreux furent les artistes qui, nés ou ayant vécu en Ukraine, sont venus se joindre aux réflexions collectives qui ont caractérisé la modernité parisienne. Cette conférence reviendra notamment sur les contributions précieuses de ces artistes Archipenko, Chana Orloff (présente dans les collections de la Piscine), Sonia Terk devenue Delaunay, Alexandra Exter, Maria Primatchenko.

"Terwijl de oorlog woedde... "Een uitzondering Oekraïense kunst" door Isabelle Lefebvre
Terwijl de oorlog woedt in Oekraïne, is een plicht van geheugen nodig rond zijn rijke erfgoed. Te beginnen met de zeldzame Byzantijnse iconen geëvacueerd uit Oekraïne en onlangs tentoongesteld in het Louvre in Parijs. De artistieke opdruk van de Oekraïense kunst, haar tradities en folklore resoneren zelfs in de expressie van moderne kunstenaars in het hart van de 20e eeuw. Veel kunstenaars, geboren of gewoond in Oekraïne, kwamen om zich aan te sluiten bij de collectieve reflecties die Parijse moderniteit kenmerkten. Deze conferentie zal terugkomen op de waardevolle bijdragen van deze kunstenaars Archipenko, Chana Orloff (aanwezig in de collecties van het zwembad), Sonia Terk, nu Delaunay, Alexandra Exter, Maria Primatchenko.
