Rogaška Slatina has a tradition of over 400 years and is one of the oldest and most important spas in Slovenia and Europe. Archaeological findings and the Roman road that led from Celeia to Petovium through Lemberg and Rogatec show that the area was known to the Celts and Romans. The healing effects of the water were known even before the first written records, which were spread by pilgrims throughout Styria.

The first written sources about the mineral water date back to 1572 when the famous alchemist Lenhardt Thurneysser from Frankfurt published an analysis of the water from a spring near the Church of the Holy Cross.
