Um Gaspard Monge, einem großen Mathematiker und Staatsmann, der 1746 in Beaune geboren wurde, einen starken Tribut zu zollen, hat die Stadt den beaunischen Maler Jean Naigeon hinzugezogen. Erster öffentlicher Auftrag der Stadt Beaune an einen Künstler. Dieses Werk ist somit das erste, das in das Inventar des Museums aufgenommen wurde, das Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts geschaffen wurde. Dieses Porträt wird Ihnen von Delphine Cornuché, der für die Sammlungen verantwortlichen Person, präsentiert, die ihre Geschichte mit Hilfe von speziell für diesen Anlass herausgegebenen Dokumenten und Archiven wieder aufleben lässt.

To pay a strong tribute to Gaspard Monge, great mathematician and statesman born in Beaune in 1746, the city calls upon the painter Jean Naigeon. First public order of the City of Beaune to an artist, this work is thus the very first inscribed in the inventory of the museum, created in the mid-nineteenth century. This portrait is presented to you by Delphine Cornuché, collection manager, who revives her history with the help of documents and archives specially released for the occasion.
