A poetic object, like an inner odyssey, sensitive and delicate. For a long time, the thought of the Chinese philosopher Chuang-tzu was considered indecipherable. Too disconcerting, too obscure, too far from our reassuring Western rationality. But he did not count on the erudition and stubbornness of Jean-François Billeter, a distinguished Swiss sinologist, writer and philosopher. Thanks to him, the Chinese master's writings have become accessible, ethereal, fluid, poetic, revealing a dazzling vision of the world. Olivier Sidore has drawn from it not only a personal philosophy but also the basis of an artistic approach that crosses disciplines to better transcend them. In order to make this powerful and singular word resonate on stage, he has teamed up with the talents of the great New Zealand improvising pianist Chris Abrahams (The Necks). The show brings together seven texts that are as much fable as dialogue and poetic material: together, they constitute a corpus that the actor lets infuse before reproducing it in the form of a full-fledged image. Magnificently embodied, this word of wisdom gives us an inspiring life lesson of remarkable depth and timeliness. Acting as much as an inspired painter as an actor whose body is metamorphosed into language, Olivier Sidore and his artistic team offer a sensory, spiritual and intellectual reading of a masterpiece with universal significance.
