Die in der Ausstellung "Amerika und die Reformation" gezeigten Werke stellen den historischen Kontext wieder her, der zum Exodus der Hugenotten nach Amerika führte, und erinnern an das Erbe dieses Exils. Dieses malerische Projekt von Frédéric LÈRE, der seine Zeit zwischen New York und dem Loire-Tal teilt, begann um den Jahrestag der Ankunft Giovanni da Verrazzano 1524 in der Bucht von New York im Dienste von Franz I. Der Künstler wollte die Auswirkungen der transatlantischen Expeditionen auf das Frankreich der Renaissance verstehen, das durch eine intellektuelle und künstlerische Erneuerung gekennzeichnet war, aber auch von religiösen Konflikten und der Gewalt des Bürgerkriegs geprägt war. Seine Arbeit stellt eine visuelle Verbindung zwischen dem Zeitalter der "großen Entdeckungen" und unserer heutigen Zeit her.

The works presented in the exhibition "The Americas and the Reformation" recall the historical context that led to the Huguenot exodus towards the Americas and evoke the legacy of this exile. This pictorial project by Frédéric LÈRE, who divides his time between New York and the Loire Valley, began around the anniversary of Giovanni da Verrazzano’s arrival in the Bay of New York in 1524 at the service of François I. The artist wanted to understand the impact of expeditions across the Atlantic on France during the Renaissance, defined by an intellectual and artistic renewal, but also marked by religious conflicts and the violence of civil war. His work creates visual connections between the age of "great discoveries" and our current era.
