On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, discover the dialogue between the works of sculptor Patrice Alexandre and those of François Pompon. The works of this major figure in animal sculpture are preserved in the collections of the Museum. Patrice Alexandre has had a privileged relationship with the Jardin des plantes since 1989, where he installed his work Tribute to Saint John Perse on the slopes of the Great Labyrinth. He returns in 2026 with a series of terracotta sculptures inspired by the bestiary of François Pompon.
Hippopotamus, eagle owl, rabbits, bear or elephant: Patrice Alexandre’s animals respond to the refined and emblematic silhouettes of Pompon, offering a sensitive encounter between two sculptors' looks, from Art Deco to contemporary creation.
