Francis Jacob ist Professor für Orgel am Straßburger Konservatorium, Konzertorganist (solo und mit Ensembles wie Gli Angeli, Hathor Consort und Le Concert Royal) und künstlerischer Leiter des Vereins „Freunde der Orgel Saessolsheim“.
Die 1995 von Bernard Aubertin erbaute Saessolsheimer Orgel eignet sich ideal für die Aufführung deutscher Barockmusik, lässt sich aber wie viele andere Instrumente auch hervorragend für andere Repertoires adaptieren.
In der Geschichte der Orgel markierte die Reformation im 16. Jahrhundert einen Wendepunkt, da sie die Gemeinde zu einer stärkeren Beteiligung, insbesondere durch Gesang, anregte. In reformierten Kirchen führte dies zur Entstehung des Chorrepertoires, das den Gregorianischen Choral ablöste.
Mit der Reformation übernahm die Orgel die Rolle der Begleitung des Gemeindegesangs, was zuvor nicht unbedingt der Fall war, da sie sich mit unbegleiteten Gesängen wie Gregorianischem Choral und polyphonen Liedern abwechselte.
Aus dieser langen Geschichte hat sich ein reiches Repertoire an Orgelchorälen erhalten.
Francis Jacob präsentiert die Vielfalt dieses wunderbaren Orgelrepertoires. Er präsentiert fünf besonders wichtige Choräle der Liturgie in chronologischer Reihenfolge des Kirchenjahres. Zunächst singt er den jeweiligen Choral und anschließend drei verschiedene Fassungen.
Für die Konzerte in Saessolsheim bittet der Verein „Freunde der Orgel“ um Fahrgemeinschaften – sowohl für Fahrer als auch für Mitfahrer. Interessierte können sich gerne melden, um eine Mitfahrgelegenheit zu organisieren. Fahrgemeinschaften sparen Geld, schonen die Umwelt, erleichtern die Parkplatzsuche und bieten die Möglichkeit, neue Leute kennenzulernen.

Francis Jacob is professor of organ at the Strasbourg Conservatory, a concert organist (solo or with ensembles such as Gli Angeli, Hathor Consort, and Le Concert Royal), and artistic director of the Friends of the Saessolsheim Organ Association.
The Saessolsheim organ, built by Bernard Aubertin in 1995, is ideal for performing German Baroque music, but like many fine instruments, it can also be beautifully adapted to other repertoires.
In the history of the organ, the Reformation in the 16th century was a pivotal moment, as it encouraged greater participation from the congregation, particularly through singing. In Reformed churches, this led to the birth of the choral repertoire, which replaced Gregorian chant.
With the Reformation, the organ took on the role of accompanying congregational singing, which wasn't necessarily the case before, when the organ alternated with unaccompanied chants: Gregorian chant, polyphonic songs.
From this entire history, the organ repertoire retains a vast array of organ chorales.
Francis Jacob will present the great variety of this wonderful organ repertoire. Featuring five particularly important chorales from the liturgy, in chronological order of the liturgical year, he will sing the single chorale and then perform three versions of each, in different styles.
For the concerts in Saessolsheim, the Friends of the Organ Association encourages carpooling, as a passenger or driver. Those interested are invited to contact them to arrange rides. Carpooling means: saving money, being environmentally friendly, simplifying parking, and maybe even meeting new people…

Francis Jacob est professeur d’orgue au Conservatoire de Strasbourg, concertiste (en solo ou au sein des ensembles Gli Angeli, Hathor Consort, Le Concert Royal…), directeur artistique de l’Association des Amis de l’Orgue de Saessolsheim.
L’orgue de Saessolsheim, construit par Bernard Aubertin en 1995, est idéal pour l’interprétation de la musique baroque allemande, mais comme beaucoup de bons instruments, peut s’approprier aussi avec bonheur d’autres répertoires.
Dans l’histoire de l’orgue, la Réforme au 16ème siècle est un moment important, et la Réforme souhaite que l’assemblée des fidèles participe davantage, notamment par le chant. Dans les églises de la Réforme, c’est la naissance du répertoire du choral, qui remplace le grégorien.
Avec la Réforme, l’orgue prend la fonction d’accompagner le chant de l’assemblée, ce qui n’était pas spécialement le cas avant, où l’orgue alternait avec des chants sans instruments : chant grégorien, chants à plusieurs voix (polyphonies).
De toute cette histoire, le répertoire d’orgue garde un vaste éventail de chorals pour orgue.
Francis Jacob présentera la grande variété de ce merveilleux répertoire pour orgue. Avec 5 chorals particulièrement importants de la liturgie, dans l’ordre chronologique de l’année liturgique, il chantera le choral simple puis jouera 3 versions de chacun, de styles différents.

Pour les concerts à Saessolsheim, l’association des amis de l’orgue incite au co-voiturage, comme passager ou conducteur. Elle invite les intéressés à la contacter afin de mettre les personnes en contact. Co-voiturer c’est : faire des économies, une bonne démarche par rapport à l’environnement, simplifier le parking, peut-être faire des rencontres sympathiques…
