Der Salon du Livre-Photo d'Ascain freut sich, die MAP GALERIE, Fotogalerie und Fotobuchhandlung in Bordeaux zu beherbergen. Sie ist eingeladen, während der gesamten Veranstaltung eine Auswahl an Werken und Fotobüchern zu präsentieren.
Mit dieser Einladung möchte die Messe die wesentliche Rolle der Buchgalerien bei der Sichtbarkeit von Künstler-Autoren und der Verbreitung zeitgenössischer Fotografie hervorheben.
MAP GALERIE - Ein Ort für engagierte Bilder und sensible Blicke in Bordeaux.
Sergio Corona, italienischer Fotograf und Journalist, ist Gründer, Eigentümer und künstlerischer Leiter der MAP Galerie, einem unabhängigen Bereich für dokumentarische und humanistische Fotografie.
Der Name MAP hat eine doppelte Bedeutung: Im Englischen bedeutet MAP die Karte und erinnert an die Reportagen, die von den ausgestellten Künstlern in allen Teilen der Welt gemacht wurden.
MAP steht für Manipuler avec précaution. Eine Hommage an den Menschen, im Mittelpunkt jeder Ausstellung, die als zutiefst zerbrechlich betrachtet wird und Aufmerksamkeit und Respekt verdient.
Seit ihrer Eröffnung im Juni 2022 hat sich die Galerie allmählich als alternativer, anspruchsvoller und wohlwollender Ort etabliert, der im ersten Stock eines diskreten Gebäudes in Bordeaux liegt.
Die Galerie zeigt zeitgenössische Autoren und Autorinnen, die durch ihr Bild die Komplexität der heutigen Welt erforschen. Die Programmierung bietet Zugang zu Arbeiten, die dem Fotojournalismus, der Berichterstattung, der Sozialfotografie oder der engagierten dokumentarischen Fotografie zuzuordnen sind.
Jede Ausstellung wird als eine sensible Kartographie gedacht, als visuelle Durchquerung eines Territoriums, einer Erinnerung, eines Kampfes oder einer unbekannten Geschichte. Die Galerie zeichnet sich durch ihren ethischen Ansatz aus: Die präsentierten fotografischen Erzählungen werden immer von einem Willen zur Weitergabe, zum Zeugnis und sogar zur Wiedergutmachung getragen.
Die MAP-Galerie ist auch ein Ort der Begegnung und des Nachdenkens: Es werden regelmäßig Vernissagen, Workshops, Projektionen oder Konferenzen angeboten, im Geiste des Dialogs zwischen Künstlern, dem Publikum und Fachleuten aus dem Bereich Bild, Kultur oder Verlagswesen.

The Salon du Livre-Photo d'Ascain is pleased to welcome the MAP GALERIE, a gallery and photographic bookstore based in Bordeaux, invited to present a selection of works and photographic books throughout the event.
Through this invitation, the fair wishes to highlight the essential role of galleries-bookstores in the visibility of artists-authors and the circulation of contemporary photography.
MAP GALERIE - A place of engaged images and sensitive looks in Bordeaux.
Sergio Corona, an Italian photographer and journalist, is the founder, owner and artistic director of MAP Galerie, an independent space dedicated to documentary and humanist photography.
The name MAP carries a double meaning: in English, MAP means map, echoing the reports made around the world by the artists exhibited.
In French, MAP is the acronym for Manipuler Avec Précaution. A tribute to the human being, at the heart of each exhibition, considered as deeply fragile, worthy of attention and respect.
Since its opening in June 2022, the gallery has gradually established itself as an alternative, demanding and benevolent place, nestled on the first floor of a building with discreet charm in Bordeaux.
The gallery welcomes contemporary authors who explore, through images, the complexities of today’s world. The programming shows works that fall under photojournalism, reporting, social photography or documentary photography.
Each exhibition is conceived as a sensitive cartography, a visual journey through a territory, a memory, a fight or an unknown story. The gallery is distinguished by its ethical approach: the photographic narratives presented are always driven by a desire for transmission, testimony, and even reparation.
The MAP Gallery is also a place for meeting and reflection: vernissages, workshops, screenings or conferences are regularly offered in a spirit of dialogue between artists, the public and professionals in the field of image, culture or publishing.
