Where does the wind come from
From Amel Guellaty
Tunisia, France, Qatar | 2025 | 1 hour and 40 minutes | VOSTFR
In Tunis, Alyssa and Mehdi, two friends in their twenties, dream of opportunities in a conservative and autocratic country. When Alyssa discovers an art competition whose prize is an artistic residency abroad, she decides to enroll Mehdi there. Only obstacle: the competition is held in Djerba, more than 500 kilometers away. Alyssa’s audacity will push them to take the road and their destiny in hand, in pursuit of a better life.
The premiere of D'où vient le vent by Amel Guellaty, presented as part of a carte blanche at the AFLAM festival, highlights a first feature film that questions the youthful impulses and desires elsewhere of its two characters. In the tradition of the road movie, the film follows a daring youth in search of horizons, confronted with the realities of a daily life that holds them back, all crossed by a touch of comedy that softens its contours.
