The program of this study day will be devoted to the exploration of the subjects crossing the work of the artist Saodat Ismailova.

The artist’s visual and sound research questions ancestral beliefs, the imprint of Soviet and Russian domination, the severity of the female condition, the central role of film and book archives. This day is organized in collaboration with the CEAC - Centre d'Étude des Arts Contemporains of the University of Lille. Continuous exhibition until 7pm.

This session, entrusted to the Kazakh curator Dilda RAMAZAN, brings together historical and recent video work from the Central Asia region. The program invites to explore the singularity of artistic gestures that inherit multiple stories: those of the Soviet Union and those of their own heritages and identities. Het beeldende en gedegen onderzoek van de kunstenaar plaatst vraagtekens bij de voorouderlijke overtuigingen, de opdruk van de Sovjet- en Russische overheersing, de ernst van de vrouwelijke toestand, de centrale rol van film- en boekenarchieven. Deze dag wordt georganiseerd in samenwerking met het CEAC - Centre d'Étude des Arts Contemporains van de Universiteit van Lille. Doorlopende tentoonstelling tot 19:00 uur.
