When Henry IV donated the profits of the abbey of Clairac to Saint-Jean-de-Latán, the church of Saint-Sauveur found itself linked to Clairac and its destiny. Two remains still bear witness to this: the inscription of the bell "Most Holy Church of Lateran 1609" and a very damaged medallion, located above the portal, representing the papal tiara.
The village is mentioned as a castrum from 1271. Its center then seems to be organized around the church, once isolated in a vast enclosure bordered by houses forming a semicircle to the south, on the path connecting Clairac to Villeneuve.
Rebuilt after the Hundred Years' War, the church of Saint-Sauveur was abandoned at the end of the 16th century, when the parish had mostly passed to the Reformation. Restored in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, it was restored externally between 1998 and 2000.
