Visit of the graduate school of architecture of Saint-Étienne guided by the students
Installed(Settled) since its creation (1971) in old(former) rubanerie, giving on the place(square) Jacquard, at the heart of the city, the school of architecture is directly confronted to social and urban life. This trader's building old(former) textile recipe(takings) which belonged to the family Louison is built between 1857 and 1864.
The City of Saint-Etienne acquired(bought back) the primitive(initial) building in 1971 to instal(settle) the school of local architecture there transformed by decree into Pedagogic Unity(Unit) of Architecture on July 24th, 1972 then into School of Architecture in 1984.
In 2005, the graduate school of architecture of made Saint-Etienne (ENSASE) the object of a project of renovation extension leads(drives) by the architect François Bouchaudy, main stake in which consists in conferring on this real-estate set(group) a consistent architectural identity with the history(story) of the place and its function(office) of school of architecture.
In 2013, works allow to ENSASE, public access building subjected(submitted) to the rules(rulers) of accessibility to the handicapped people, to put in compliance with law n ° 2005-102 of February 11th, 2005 for the equality of rights and of lucks(chances), participation and disabled citizenship of the people.
The students of the school of architecture will welcome and guide the visitors in a discovery in this place of apprenticeship and of manufacturing of architecture.
