"East wind, west wind, a revisited history of Orientalism" by Gunilla Lapointe
Through the exceptional heritage of the arts of Islam, let us retrace the cultural exchanges between East and West, from the Middle Ages to the present day. By placing the works in their context of creation and reception, we observe the richness of influences and the importance of Islamic cultures for Western arts, without obscuring misunderstandings and fantasies. On the occasion of the exhibition at the Louvre-Lens museum, 25 March - 26 July 2026.
Rates: €5 for the Friends of La Piscine / €8 normal rate / €3 students and job seekers
The lectures are given on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Daniel Motte auditorium at La Piscine (it is wise to arrive a little early).

"Vent d'est, vent d'ouest, une histoire revisitée de l'orientalisme" par Gunilla Lapointe
À travers le patrimoine exceptionnel des arts de l’Islam, retraçons les échanges culturels entre l’Orient et l’Occident, du Moyen Âge à nos jours. En replaçant les oeuvres dans leur contexte de création et de réception observons la richesse des influences et l’importance des cultures de l’Islam pour les arts occidentaux, sans occulter les incompréhensions et les fantasmes. À l’occasion de l’exposition au musée du Louvre-Lens 25 mars - 26 juillet 2026.
Tarifs : 5€ pour les Amis de La Piscine / 8€ tarif normal / 3€ étudiants et demandeurs d’emploi
Les conférences sont données le dimanche à 15h 30 à l’auditorium Daniel Motte à La Piscine (il est prudent d’arriver un peu à l’avance).

"East wind, West wind, een herbekeken geschiedenis van het Oriëntalisme" door Gunilla Lapointe
Laten we via het uitzonderlijke erfgoed van de kunst van de islam de culturele uitwisselingen tussen Oost en West, van de middeleeuwen tot heden, volgen. Door de werken in hun context van creatie en ontvangst te plaatsen, laten we de rijkdom van invloeden en het belang van islamitische culturen voor de westerse kunst observeren, zonder misverstanden en fantasieën te overschaduwen. Ter gelegenheid van de tentoonstelling in het Musée du Louvre-lens 25 maart - 26 juli 2026.
Prijzen: 5€ voor vrienden van het zwembad / 8€ normaal tarief / 3€ studenten en werkzoekenden
Lezingen worden gegeven op zondag om 15 uur 30 in het Daniel Motte auditorium bij het zwembad (het is verstandig om een beetje van tevoren te arriveren).
