About the location

Fondation Camargo
1 avenue Maurice Jermini, 13260 Cassis
  • Bouches-du-Rhône
  • Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
Founded by American philanthropist and artist Jerome Hill (1905-1972) after World War II, the Camargo Foundation is an international residence for artists and scholars. Since 1971, it has encouraged creativity, research, and experimentation through its residency programs.

In 2018, the Camargo Foundation obtained the designation of Landmark House (Maison des Illustres), which is a national designation provided by the French Ministry of Culture to recognize the residences of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the political, scientific, social, and cultural history of France. The designation supports the Camargo Foundation in its mission to promote the artistic and cultural legacy of its founder Jerome Hill.

Occasionally open to the public, the Camargo Foundation offers visitors the opportunity to discover its heritage and to meet its residents. Its exceptional setting, facing Cap Canaille and in the Calanques National Park, makes the Camargo Foundation a privileged place for exchange, learning and reflection.
