Created in 1722, the École de médecine navale de Rochefort is the first in the world. For more than 240 years, she trained surgeons on board warships. They participate in scientific exploration trips, motivated by their desire to understand the world in its diversity. Today, this site opens the doors of its teaching rooms, its 25,000-volume scientific library and its museum. The anatomical, zoological, botanical and exceptional collections will take you into the history of naval medicine and the scientific universe of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Unique sensitive experience not to be missed! The Naval Medical School can only be visited by guided tour. Booking is strongly recommended.
During the opening hours of the site, you can visit freely and free of charge the Espace-repères located on the ground floor and the Jardin d'Utopies outside.
