Discover the Australian flora of Gonzalez Park
This garden of about 4,000 m² is dedicated solely to Australian flora. Indeed, more than 500 rare species from all regions of Australia coexist happily.
Created in 2003, the walls, alleys, pavements and riprap, are made of stone of the country and bring it an additional unit that connects it completely to the village.
To preserve this natural space, and make it cultivable 1000 m3 of topsoil were brought, as well as blocks of stones of the country (Gneiss de Bormes) deposited in terrace, riprap, walls and pavement cyclopean. Dry stone walls were added to the existing walls imitating their rusticity. In order to harmonize the mineral, the sand from the alleys was recovered from the bed of our river (The Battleship). Watering is automated micro-irrigation type (drip), it saves and optimizes water quantities according to the needs of plants. The situation of this park being burning, a natural and local mulch based on crushed cork oak bark covers the entire surface of the park to limit the evaporation of water, the emergence of weeds, and soil compaction.
