Guided tour of the medicinal plant garden with the association Poumabell'Aïchi
At the origin of the garden, the temporary exhibition «Tout hazyé sé rimèd». In June 1978, the Inventory of Traditions and Folk Arts of Marie-Galante organizes an exhibition in order to restore to the public the results of the ethnobotanical survey conducted on the Marie-Galantais territory. This temporary exhibition presented inside the main building of the Murat house, a collection of 90 living plants, classified according to their ecological affinity, organized around a sculpture of the Marie-Galantais artist Armand Baptiste, man and plant. Aquatic medicinal plants (but also leeches) are presented in an aquarium that becomes the main attraction of the exhibition. A brochure is published but quickly sold out. In response to public enthusiasm and demand, the partners of the Inventory of Traditions and Folk Arts decided to present these medicinal plants permanently. The old animal enclosure of the house seems suitable. The plants of Jaden Hazye Murat are grouped according to their use and preparation.
