Ile Olive
Rue des Petites Écluses, Nogent-sur-Seine, Aube, Grand Est
Pleasant wooded park surrounded with water, the olive island offers a space of walk and of "natural" relaxation of half a hectare close to the city centre. Accessible(Approachable) since a narrow footbridge above streams or at the other end a lock always in functioning, the olive island is the green lung of Nogentais. Old(Former) island of the Seine, it holds its current shape by construction in 1841 of a new lock. In 1917, left by the widow of an old(former) Mayor of the municipality, the doctor Olive, it becomes property of the City of Nogent-sur-Seine. An adapted mode of management and small arrangements(developments) allow to find several atmospheres there: wooded natural area, zone of park, play area for children, meadows. A botanical route(course) welcomes you and accompanies you along paths with about twenty descriptive panels(signs) of gasolines(essences) of the island.
