Opera Night in the park is a traditional concert of the Symphony Orchestra of the Slovenian National Theater Maribor, where renowned soloists of the Maribor Opera House and Opera Choir perform under the baton of artistic director Simon Krečič.
The colorful and stylistically diverse musical program consists of excerpts from the biggest opera hits of the current season and from previous years. With the concert event, which is free, freely accessible and also massively attended, both in the city of Maribor itself and in other Slovenian cities, we promote Slovenian opera creativity and take care of the popularization of the opera genre and related musical genres.
Visitors like to use the time before the concert to walk through the city park and continue their journey around the ponds and return back to the park, where many find their own corner from which to watch the concert.
The concert of opera arias fits perfectly with the natural ambience of the Maribor City Park in the transition from day to evening. You can awaken all your senses at the same time. You can listen to the concert if you sit on the park promenade or take a walk through the park. Indulge in the smell of freshly cut grass and blooming flowers. Feel the light breeze through the treetops and look up at the starry sky. Before the concert, we are preparing a special culinary experience, otherwise closed, where the invited guests can also taste the interplay of cuisine and culture.
The Opera night is created in the co-design and cooperation of the Društvo Ezl ek with the Opera in Balet SNG Maribor and the Narodni dom Maribor, as well as an organizational implementation with Factumevent, the Municipality of Maribor and the Zavod za turizem Maribor.
Saturday, June 1, 2024 is an alternate date for the concert in case of bad weather the previous day.
