Jardin Vavilov
rue quetigny epinay sur seine
- Seine-Saint-Denis
- Île-de-France
The Vavilov vegetable garden, installed in the garden of Alcobendas, is not an ordinary garden. The cultivated plot is of modest size but it does not lack ambition. Indeed, by becoming a partner of the Vavilov Institute, the City participates in a major project to preserve cultivated varieties (vegetables, fruits, cereals) from around the world but neglected over time, with the objective of allowing their circulation.
In the coming years, this vegetable garden will regularly host educational and scientific activities. It will be a unique place to raise awareness of biodiversity and climate change. It will receive Spinach students, but also adults and businesses to discuss for example the importance of food diversity for health or adaptation to climate change of plant varieties. Now, Epinay is at the heart of the history of global biodiversity!
