L'Orto del Pellegrino

The Orto del Pellegrino was founded in 2016 by the recovery of an abandoned garden in the heart of the historic center of Velletri, a few steps from the fourteenth-century Torre del Trivio. The Garden is very small, about 300 square meters, is located between the roofs, is accessible only through a flight of stairs, has a small covered area dedicated to exhibitions and workshops and is attached to a pharmacy: hence the idea of making a home garden a medicinal garden that, specifically, collects and collects those herbs that, along the Francigena tract, a pilgrim could and can identify, useful for preparing medicines. But also those toxic and poisonous herbs, whose knowledge could make the difference between living and dying. In fact, the first two flowerbeds, Death and Witches respectively, have particular importance in the visit: herbs have learned to defend themselves and can be very powerful.
