The ornamental garden, which belongs to the house of the Swiss diplomat Johann Konrad Kern (1808-1888), was one of the most popular motifs by Adolf Dietrich (1877-1957). Adolf Dietrich, one of the most important painters in Switzerland, spent his whole life in Berlingen. His talent for drawing was evident early on, but he could only develop it alongside his work as an unskilled worker. On his travels he made pencil drawings, later black and white photos, which served him as reminders and templates for his oil paintings. The artist’s drawing room has remained unchanged since 1957. It is recommended to combine the garden tour with a visit to the Adolf Dietrich House (guided tours at any time by appointment).
