Discover the Oasis Nature pilots of Saint-Ouen
The Garden of Tranquility:
We begin the visit with the first garden in the courtyard of 16 bis recently labeled "Oasis Nature" by Humanity and Biodiversity. It is a shared garden accessible to users of the residence, which welcomes visitors during the Nature Festival and offers workshops around biodiversity. In the center of the garden, there is an experimental «Key Hole Garden» vegetable garden used in Africa, built in a circle with a keyhole-shaped access hosting a compost at the bottom that feeds the flowerbed. We use the pruning of the Jardin éco-poétique which serves as «mulch» (organic cover) to the plantations and it is spread on the ground of the garden to keep a certain humidity. There is also an insect hotel and a birdhouse, a bird trough in «bottle tree» made with recycled bottles. The benches are made with railway sleepers and recovery pallet also. Native plants are preserved: celandine, dandelion, geranium grass Robert, balsamine «impatiente», Silene. In autumn, we sow green manure that we cut and bury in the spring before new food plantations. For the summer we choose annual plants melliferous worries, eschscholzia, blueberry.
Le Jardin éco Poétique du 16 bis:
The second garden is a little hidden behind the building, it is an old acacia wasteland that was converted into a natural garden by Camille They. Places for birds and insects are there to preserve the local wildlife: a totem-shaped insect hotel, bird drinkers in the shape of «Raindrops» a natural compost corner that welcomes wood waste and plants. We let develop the flora of native plants: ivy that welcomes birds and feeds them in winter, balsamine and geranium Robert, celandine... You can also discover works by street art artists, mixing art&nature.
