10 hectares of unspoilt nature in the heart of the Normandy-Maine regional natural park (classified UNESCO Geopark) are waiting for you! Between the forests of Ecouves and Andaines, the Château de Carrouges occupied for 7 centuries by the same family is a monument that has defied time.
This prestigious residence built between the Middle Ages and the 17th century is a jewel of architecture: the warm pink brick colours that animate the facades are enhanced by the green park which offers a wide walk to the visitor.
Here, no network, but the singing of birds: disconnect and enjoy a moment of calm in the eternal landscape of the Norman bocage. Walk around the moat, walk in the flowerbed with its French-style flowers and its classic balustrade decorated with fire pots. Walk up the great avenues to discover the historic gates and their 17th century ironwork, take a picnic break in the apple orchard conservatory and of course, if you like, take a ticket and visit the castle.
Like the Lords of Carrouges, you will enjoy the view over the gardens from the grandiose parade apartment restored and opened for the first time in its history in 2024!

Of origins in 1936, the castle was never sold; he(it) always stayed in the same family by successions. The quality of its furniture (of Renaissance in restoration(catering)) and the wealth of its numerous portraits of family endow it with the particular(special) charm of a lived house.
Carrouges is a brick-built entirely built building. These have characteristic to be cooked in ovens thought in the flight(volley), as millstones of charcoal, what gives them a very soft tint of discoloured rose on which play the nuances of light and of reflexions of staves(moats). The set(group), established(constituted) by long brick walls, walls of granite frame(supervision) and high slate roofs in the complex skeletons presents a subtle unity(unit) in the sphere of influence of the Norman sky. The castle is surrounded with a ten hectare park, with groves, with terraces and with big(great) flowerbeds(orchestras).
The castle of Carrouges is a national monument managed by the Centre of the national monuments.
