Meet the artist Joshua Leon
Capc dedicates its programming of European Heritage and Matrimony Days to the building that houses it, the Lainé Warehouse, former real warehouse of colonial goods, erected in 1824.
Under the title 200 years of the Lainé Warehouse: Echoes of the Atlantic trade and colonial slavery and through a series of meetings organized throughout this weekendend, the LCdr offers visitors an enlightened look at the history of the building and what links it to the colonial history of Bordeaux.
Interview with Joshua Leon As part of his participation in the exhibition Ghost Routes, artist Joshua Leon returns to the production of a new chocolate work imagined from his research on marranes - a Jewish community forcibly converted to Catholicism, which continued to practice its religion in secret. Coming from Spain and Portugal, they emigrated to the southwest of France in the 15th century. Joshua Leon proposes to discuss the history of this community, their establishment in Bordeaux, their link to colonial history and the chocolate trade in Europe.
