For its 28th edition, Panorama, the annual meeting of the Fresnoy – National Studio for Contemporary Arts, presents nearly 50 new works created by the artists of the Fresnoy: films, installations, performances and digital and interactive creations.
[…] This issue of the invisibles is particularly important today, at a time when our societies increasingly value constant visibility. Being visible seems to have become a prerequisite for social existence: we must show ourselves, tell our stories, document ourselves, and continually produce traces of our lives. Yet, in our quest to see everything, what are we actually looking at? For the artists, looking at and listening to the invisibles become an act of attention, almost of care. Their works focus on what lies on the threshold of perception: the almost erased, what is buried in the earth, in the ages; the infinitely small, the peripheral, the latent, the subterranean, the forgotten. Pour sa 28e édition, Panorama, le rendez-vous annuel du Fresnoy – Studio national des arts contemporains, présente près de 50 œuvres inédites réalisées par les artistes du Fresnoy : films, installations, performances et créations numériques et interactives.
[…] La question des invisibles est particulièrement importante aujourd’hui, alors que nos sociétés valorisent de plus en plus la visibilité permanente. Être visible semble devenu une condition d’existence sociale : il faut se montrer, se raconter, se documenter, produire continuellement des traces. Pourtant, à force de tout voir, que regardons-nous ? Pour les artistes, regarder et écouter les invisibles devient ici un acte d’attention, presque de soin. Leurs œuvres s’attachent à ce qui se tient au seuil de la perception : le presque effacé, l’enfoui, dans les terres, dans les âges, l’infiniment petit, le périphérique, le latent, le souterrain, l’oublié…

Panorama, de jaarlijkse vergadering van de Fresnoy – National Studio for Contemporary Arts, presenteert voor de 28e editie bijna 50 nieuwe werken van de kunstenaars van de Fresnoy: Films, installaties, performances en digitale en interactieve creaties.
[…] De kwestie van de onzichtbaren is tegenwoordig bijzonder belangrijk, nu onze samenlevingen steeds meer waarde hechten aan permanente zichtbaarheid. Zichtbaar zijn lijkt een voorwaarde te zijn geworden voor sociaal bestaan: je moet je laten zien, je verhaal doen, je documenteren, voortdurend sporen achterlaten. Toch, als we alles maar blijven bekijken, waar kijken we dan eigenlijk naar? Voor kunstenaars wordt het hier een daad van aandacht, bijna van zorg, om de onzichtbaren te zien en te horen. Hun werken richten zich op wat aan de drempel van de waarneming staat: het bijna uitgewiste, het begraven, in de aarde, door de eeuwen heen, het oneindig kleine, het perifere, het latente, het ondergrondse, het vergeten…
