A film series based on the exhibition ‘Afrosonica - Soundscapes’ in collaboration with the Cinémas d'Afrique festival. Auditorium. Sunday 5 october from 4pm to 6pm.
MEG is joining forces with the Festival cinémas d'Afrique Lausanne (FCAL), which will be held in Lausanne from 14 to 17 August 2025. As part of the temporary exhibition ‘Afrosonica - Soundscapes’ a series of films for adults, children, and teenagers will be shown between May and December, offering a different perspective on the themes addressed in the exhibition. Part of the programme has been co-created with the FCAL, which is sharing some cinematic gems for the occasion.
For the occasion, a series of original musical short films will be screened.
Film: Kwetu Kwanza, by Noah Grothe and Devis Ahimbisibwe
A film of dance, fashion and poetry exploring the themes of nature, pollution and sustainability. The film shows how humans have become reckless in their actions, with the things they use in their daily lives proving harmful to the environment.

Film: Libende Boyz, by Wendy Bashi
Since 2014 in Beni (North Kivu), fear has become a permanent member of every family in this region of the Democratic Republic of Congo. Against this backdrop, a group of young rappers are dreaming of glory and success. The Libende Boyz, which stands for Men of Steel, believe that one day Beni will no longer be compared to Mosul but to Los Angeles. Director Wendy Bashi paints a rich portrait of resilient young people brimming with dreams who want to transform Beni into the new capital of rap.

Film: Les Divas du Taguerabt, by Karim Moussaoui
To consolidate its economic cooperation with Algeria, China is offering the city of Algiers an expensive Opera House. Although the opera house opened its doors in 2016, Algeria remains far removed from this form of expression and lacks the resources to maintain and bring this 1,400-seat venue to life. Karim Moussaoui asks what an opera house would mean to Algerian musical culture. Accompanied by his film crew, he sets off into the desert in search of the mysterious Divas of Taguerabt.
