With Chang-Ming Peng, professor of history of contemporary art and museology at the University of Lille
Between China and Europe, circulations have favored exchanges for centuries, which has had an impact on artistic creation. However, this story has gone through phases, with misunderstanding and criticism prevailing at its beginning, due to the difference in models and aesthetic principles of reference before their respective undermining led to an opening of the gaze and a consideration of exogenous contributions giving rise to new artistic creations in the contemporary era. By bringing together significant examples, this conference will propose to shed light on the issues at stake in this crossed history of artistic encounters and interactions between China and Europe, making things closer in the distance.

Avec Chang-Ming Peng, professeure d'histoire de l'art contemporain et de muséologie à l'Université de Lille
Entre la Chine et l’Europe, les circulations ont favorisé les échanges depuis des siècles, ce qui a eu une incidence sur la création artistique. Cependant cette histoire a traversé des phases, l’incompréhension et la critique l’emportant à ses débuts, en raison de la différence des modèles et des principes esthétiques de référence avant que l’ébranlement respectif de ces derniers ne conduise à une ouverture du regard et une prise en compte d’apports exogènes donnant naissance à des créations artistiques nouvelles à l’époque contemporaine. En convoquant des exemples significatifs, cette conférence proposera d’éclairer les enjeux de cette histoire croisée des rencontres et des interactions artistiques entre la Chine et l’Europe, rendant les lointains plus proches.

Met Chang-Ming Peng, hoogleraar hedendaagse kunstgeschiedenis en museologie aan de Universiteit van Lille
Tussen China en Europa heeft de circulatie eeuwenlang de uitwisseling bevorderd, wat van invloed is geweest op de artistieke schepping. Dit verhaal heeft echter fasen doorgemaakt, met misverstand en kritiek in het begin, vanwege het verschil in modellen en esthetische principes van referentie vóór de respectieve schudden van de laatste leidt tot een opening van de blik en een rekening rekening met exogene bijdragen die aanleiding geven tot nieuwe artistieke creaties in de hedendaagse tijd. Door belangrijke voorbeelden op te roepen, zal deze conferentie voorstellen om licht te werpen op de belangen van deze gekruiste geschiedenis van ontmoetingen en artistieke interacties tussen China en Europa, waardoor de afstand dichterbij komt.
