Visit of the quarry and the stone-making plant of Noyant-et-Aconin (02)
As part of the National Architecture Days, the CAUE de l'Aisne organizes a free visit to Carrières de Noyant. The visit will focus on underground mining and the new stone-making plant, inaugurated on October 11, 2024.
The blocks, extracted more than 20 meters underground, are brought back to the production workshop located nearby to be cut into stones for construction. The new flow unit doubles the material yield and thus makes the resource accessible in quantity and at competitive prices compared to other constructive modes while preserving the natural resource.
The stone of Noyant was used locally since the Middle Ages, in particular to provide the stones of the Donjon de Septmonts, but also to build houses, castles, churches. Currently, it is used in Paris for apartment buildings or mansions. Equipped with new resources, the company’s ambition is to help recreate a construction sector made of natural stones, local materials, low carbon and sustainable in the Hauts-de-France.
The welcome and visit will be provided by one of the company’s managers, Camille de Paul.
