L'Escalège, in the local dialect, is the Salsapareille (Smilax aspera) whose tough and thorny lianas often leave cruel memories to walkers who decided to leave the trails to cut through woods. Salsepareille is also the delicate scent of its inflorescences that embalm the scrubland in the fall when flowers are scarce.
