Former library of the château du Lude and contemporary works
After a dozen steps to access the front porch, the visit takes place on one level in the two old rooms of the library. PMR access is provided.
Bishop Gaspard Daillon du Lude, bishop of the diocese of Albi from 1635 to 1676, acquired in 1645 several plots abundantly supplied with water, located not far from the source of the stream of Merville.
As a friend of the arts, he set up a rich library there, adorned with magnificent gilded paneling, visible on the walls and ceiling, still preserved today. The castle also has, on its main facade, a large porch lined with Italianate balusters.
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, contemporary works created by patients will be exhibited in these former library rooms.

Entering from the street LAVAZIERE by the monumental door topped with a tympanum representing JESUS blessing children or by the boulevard of the LUDE, one is immediately seized by the size of the buildings and their beauty, Here no austerity but the view is clear by opening on beds creating a harmonious whole. Walking along the alleys we see, from the administrative entrance of the establishment, the entrance of the current Retirement House (not visitable) extended by its magnificent cloister (visible from the chapel) This building is crowned with a stone baluster that ends at each end by a pedestal surmounted by a very artistic stone vase. Then you pass by different buildings on the left and right , the rotunda, the emblematic old buildings to arrive at the château du Lude and below its museum of asilaire art (related to de l' Art Brut) and in front is the large chapel and the cloister (open to the public during heritage days) .
